State Student Advisory Council!
Yes, Trinidad State campuses now have a voice in what happens throughout the CCCS system.
Congratulations to Danielle Armstrong on receiving Legislative Liasion and Merisa Armstrong for receiving Secretary!
On that note, there will be updates on what is going on with SSAC monthly. For now a little about what they do.
On October 17th and 18th we were able to attend the State Student Advisory Council (SSAC) Conference at the Community College of Denver (CCD). The conference started with a welcoming and opening session from Dr. Nancy McCallin, the Community College System President. We then had breakout sessions and speakers on team building and how to be great leader. Later on that evening was the SACC election of officers and voting. We had to give a 3-5 minute speech followed by 5 minutes of open floor questions. Danielle Armstrong was elected and voted in as the SSAC Legislative Liaison and Merisa Armstrong was elected and voted in as the SSAC Secretary. Saturday morning started with the new officers meeting followed by more breakout sessions including a workshop on building relationships as a leader. We learned many things at this conference and look forward to building student involvement.
Danielle Armstrong—Legislative Liaison for SSAC
During the last couple of weeks I have been preparing to run for the State Student Advisory Council office of Legislative Liaison or Secretary. During this preparation I had to submit a letter of interest and a letter of recommendation as well as prepare a 3 to 5 minute speech on why I was the best candidate for the positions. On October 17, 2010 I was elected and voted in by SSAC Representatives from all Community Colleges in Colorado. I am proud to hold the position of Legislative Liaison and am excited to be representing both TSJC Campuses as well as all Colorado Community Colleges. With this position comes a great responsibility and duties including but are not limited to:
Merisa Armstrong—Secretary for SSAC
As of Friday October 17th I, Merisa Armstrong, was elected into the office of secretary for the State Student Advisory Council also known as SSAC. I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve on this particular board which spans across the Colorado Community College System as well as my own Trinidad State Valley Campus. As Secretary, my duties include but are not limited to:
